Starting as a four-track recording project for founding member, vocalist and guitarist Benjamin Xavier Kim, Clock Strikes Thirteen would eventually work their way to a mainstay in the Philadelphia pop scene. Ultimately forming into a live band in 1996, Clock Strikes Thirteen would soon forgo a number of line-up changes over the years with Kim remaining as the only original member. Drive-In Records first captured Thirteen's sound of pensive, melodic indie through two 1997 singles. Resulting in several critical comparisons to Northern Soul and Orchids, the Kim and company would follow with the 1999 EP When We Were Together. Their first full-length Ever Decreasing Circles resulted a year later through Drive-In and Liquefaction Empire. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
