The duo Chris and Carla was an offshoot of the Seattle folk-punk unit the Walkabouts, featuring the band's singer/songwriters Chris Eckman and Carla Torgerson. An acoustic, folk-based project, Chris and Carla debuted in 1993 with Shelter for an Evening, a live collection recorded in Germany. Two years later, they resurfaced with Life Full of Holes, a studio LP cut with R.E.M.'s Peter Buck and members of Britain's Tindersticks.
