Bossa Nossa is a project led by Brazilian-born singer Márcia Barros that performs Portuguese contemporary pop/rock standards in a bossa nova style. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and based in Porto, Portugal, Barros is an experienced singer who made her album debut as Bossa Nossa in 2009. Titled O Melhor da Pop Portuguesa, Em Ritmo Bossa Nova and released on Sony Music, the album includes bossa nova versions of songs by Portuguese contemporary pop/rock artists such as Xutos & Pontapés ("Não Sou o Único"), Santos & Pecadores ("Fala-me de Amor"), Trovante ("Perdidamente"), and Madredeus ("O Pastor"). O Melhor da Pop Portuguesa, Em Ritmo Bossa Nova was a Top Ten hit on the Portuguese albums chart and spawned the Top 20 hit single "Bairro do Amor," a song by singer/songwriter Jorge Palma that was originally released in 1989. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
