Folk musician Bob Davis has made his greatest mark as a sound and theatrical designer, soundtrack producer, and college professor. Teaching at City College in New York since 1976, Davis has also taught at Solano Community College and San Francisco State University. Examples of his music and sound design can be heard on the CD-ROMs Secret Paths in the Forest and Secret Paths to the Sea. His compositions have been featured in productions by A Traveling Jewish Theater, California Shakespeare Festival, and Soon 3 Theater and have been performed by the Kronos Quartet. His solo show, Banjo, has entertained audiences in California and New York. Davis's theatrical designs were seen in the Magic Theater's Topograhical Edeb, Theater Rhinoceros's Waiting for Godette, and the Acme Famous Players's The Bad Seed. He provided set design and soundtrack production for the film Vegas in Space and directed sound effects for the movie ex Is=8A. The publisher of a quarterly magazine, Lady Like, Davis spent two years working on a history of transgender sexuality with Carol Kleinmaier. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
