Known for their frantic live energy and party-themed enthusiasms, Blindspot were another contribution to California's scene of third-wave ska bands since their 1993 formation. Not shying away from the fast pace punk aggression and distorted guitar layers, the band got the start in Santa Rosa scene thanks to the recruitment of guitarist Jay Cooper and saxophonist Kim Abrams. Eventually hitching Zack Proteau (bass), Nate Fadelli (drums), Jeff Underwood (trumpet), David Hall (vocals) and Achilles Poloynis (trombone) to complete their seven piece line-up, Blindspot made their recording debut in 1995 with a self-titled 7" put out by themselves. Following a second seven-inch released by Reptilian Records a year later, the band eventually had the chance to open up for the likes of Agent Orange, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Skankin' Pickle, Let's Go Bowling and Reel Big Fish, before signing a deal with Tomatohead Records. Maintaining their hyper pace and attitude of just wanting to have a good time, Blindspot's first full-length Acceleration Zero was finally released in 1999. ~ Mike DaRonco, All Music Guide
