Biography

Preeminent sound installation artist Bill Fontana has created a variety of sound projects from the late '60s into the next century, including radio projects, compositions for modern dance, installations for spaces such as museums, and dozens of sound sculptures that were commissioned for spots all over the U.S. and Europe, including San Francisco, N.Y.C., North Carolina's State Revenue Building, London, Venice, Paris, Cologne, and Berlin. Born in 1947 in Cleveland, OH, Fontana has lived in Paris and San Francisco and has received fellowships from the NEA, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission, and the Berliner K�nstlerprogramm des DAAD (twice in the '80s). ~ Joslyn Layne, All Music Guide
