Biography

The Big Tymers, comprised of Cash Money Records co-founder Brian "Baby" Williams and in-house production workhorse Mannie Fresh, were a staple of the label, appearing as featured guests on most of the label's album releases and releasing several albums of their own, including a couple -- I Got That Work (2000) and Hood Rich (2002) -- that were quite successful. The duo made its recording debut, How You Luv That?, in 1998; the album was then reworked slightly and released as How You Luv That?, Vol. 2 later in the year, after Cash Money had signed a distribution deal with Universal Records. Baby and Mannie Fresh improved their rapping, and more importantly their songwriting, for their next two albums, I Got That Work (2000) and Hood Rich (2002), which spawned a number of hits ("Get Your Roll On" and "#1 Stunna" on the former; "Still Fly" and "Oh Yeah!" on the latter). Big Money Heavyweight (2003) was less successful, and with the subsequent departure of Mannie Fresh from the Cash Money label following the release of his solo album The Mind of Mannie Fresh (2004), the Big Tymers closed the book on their recording career. Baby (aka Birdman) chose to carry on as a solo artist, often appearing alongside Lil Wayne (whom he called his "son"), while Mannie Fresh focused on his production work. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
