Balún is an indie pop/electronic band based in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Made up of Andres Fontanez on guitars, melodica, and programming, Jose Olivares on synths, melodica, programming, and guitar, and Angelica Negron on vocals, accordion, violin, piano, synths, and programming, the group constructs an often breathtaking sound. Equal parts techno that wouldn't sound out of place on Warp in the early '90s and shoegazey indie pop that fans of Slowdive could embrace, they began recording in the early 2000s, releasing their first EP, helpfully titled EP1, in 2003. They followed it up with the Nada Que Hacer Hoy and While Sleeping EPs in 2004, before signing with Brilliante in the U.S. and releasing the excellent Something Comes Our Way in 2006. The group then released An EP Collection, which compiled their three EPs on one disc. ~ Tim Sendra, All Music Guide
