Biography

Grab
Guitarists Hugh Brockie and Jim Atkinson, keyboardist Dwayne Ford, drummer Brian Hilton, bassist Terry Danko, and later drummer Mal Turner, performed together in the early '70s under the group name Atkinson, Danko and Ford. Each of the members had gained experience working with other bands, and had a little help in the beginning from another artist -- Ronnie Hawkins. In 1972, Atkinson, Danko and Ford was put under contract by the major label of Columbia Records. That same year the band released a single that held the songs "&Holy, Holy, Holy" and "Right On." It was followed by a self-titled debut album. The tunes on the first and only full-length offering were similar to those of the Monkees, the Cowsills, and the Archies. Before another recording was finished, the group had changed its name to Bearfoot. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
