Anny

Artist Info

Biography

Originally from Chicago, flamboyant pop rocker Anny specializes in a style of original music that is equal parts Joni Mitchell/Tori Amos and Elton John/Freddie Mercury. During her early years, Anny connected with such rock musicals as Jesus Christ Superstar and Hair, as she developed her voice by singing along to the soundtracks. After attending Harvard University, Anny relocated to Los Angeles, as she pursued her dreams of rock superstardom. Although she began recording her debut album, Strange and Beautiful, in 1996, it didn't see the light of day until May of 2001. The main reason for its delay was the original record label that she signed to, Risk Records, closed down shortly after sessions began, eventually moving to the Uncommon Sound and working with producer Craig Snider (Madonna, Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan). ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
