Sisters from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Coralie and Jackie Allan both started singing at an early age. Jackie began first and Coralie followed in her footsteps. The girls grew into women before they made their debut recording in 1963. It was a country single titled "Larry." The first outing by the Allan Sisters quickly found its way onto the charts. The duo later crossed over to the pop charts as well, with other tunes like "I'm in With the Downtown Crowd" and "Drummer Man." The success on the charts landed the Allen Sisters a regular spot on a CBS country music television series, The Tommy Hunter Show. The gig lasted for over a decade. Around 1975, the talented family team stopped working together, a big disappointment for many of their fans. Though Coralie seemed to have had enough of the music business and was ready to step out of the spot life, Jackie was happy to go on and test out her chances with a solo career. She was still at it when she fell ill with cancer. Sadly, she died in 1985. ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
