Architect, painter, and producer Alberto Escobar above all was captivated by music, especially songwriting. The artist debuted in 1973 while participating in a university festival sponsored by ITESO at Guadalajara, Jalisco, coming in first place with his song "Habrá Amor." During the following years, Escobar improved his poetic skills, started to get involved in a movement called Nueva Trova, joined an association called Canto Tapatio in 1982, and worked in a composing studio along with Francisco Madrigal. In 1984, Alberto Escobar joined a band called Tierra Mojada, releasing an album in 1985. That record included his smash hit "Coindicir." Later, Escobar decided to start a solo career, recording Este Día Es El Mejor in 1988. As a tribute to the song which became a Nueva Trova's classic, Alberto Escobar titled his following album Coincidir, released in 1995. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
