A young singer/songwriter with an ancient heart, Adam Carroll is a Texas troubadour who can honestly trace his roots through giants like Butch Hancock, John Prine, and the late great Townes Van Zandt. His albums are compelling sketches of down-home people and places. He released his debut, South of Town, in 1999, following that with Lookin' out the Screen Door. Both were produced by ubiquitous Texan Lloyd Maines. He has opened for artists such as Charlie Robison, Lucinda Williams, and Terry Allen. (Carroll has noted how Allen's near-legendary Lubbock on Everything album left an indelible stamp early on.) Born and raised in Tyler, TX, Carroll has also hosted "Down Home Song Swaps" in various venues throughout Texas, featuring him swapping songs with other songwriters. Among the artists who have participated are Bukka Allen (Terry's son) and Damon Bramblett. ~ Erik Hage, All Music Guide
