Taking their name from a common abbreviation for the phrase "YouTube Dummies," Y-Titty are a three-man musical comedy team who rose to fame in Germany through their videos posted on the YouTube video site. Y-Titty were formed in 2006 by Phil (aka Philipp Laude) and TC (aka Matthias Roll), two friends who were both born in 1991; creating parodies of popular hits by artists such as Eminem and Rihanna along with takeoffs of popular movies and original songs and routines, the group became an online sensation, and in time their primary YouTube channel attracted 2.5 million subscribers, with their videos attracting 490 million views. The group expanded to a trio in 2009 with the addition of OG (aka Oguz Yilmaz), also born in 1991. In 2011, the band expanded into recording, releasing their first single, "Standertime," which rose to 48 on the German pop charts. Their second release, "Der Letzte Sommer," fared better, spending 11 weeks on the singles charts and peaking at 15. In 2013, Y-Titty cracked the German Top Ten with "Halt Dein Maul," which peaked at five at home and also rose to the Top Ten in Austria and Switzerland. The song also appeared on the group's first album, Stricksocken Swagger, which was a major hit in Germany after its release in the summer of 2013. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
