Dallas natives Michael Alves (bass) and Joe Elwood (drums) joined forces with ex-Slobberbone guitarist Michael Hill in the summer of 1997 to form the alternative country-rock group 12Lb. Test. Guitarist Jake Williams, also of Dallas, joined a year later, followed by drummer Steve Hill, who replaced Elwood in the fall of 1999. Since its inception, the band has maintained a steady schedule of appearances, performing at live music venues throughout the state of Texas and creating their unique brand of straight-up, gimmick-free, guitar-driven, pop-laced rock & roll. Their first recording, Harm's Way, was released by Miles of Music in late 2000. ~ Zac Johnson, All Music Guide
