Eva Cassidy's "American Tune" (Blix St./Hot) began a second week atop the album chart, on which Elbow's "Cast of Thousands" (V2) was the only newcomer within the top-20, at No. 7.
Utterly unique singer/songwriter Wesley Willis passed away Aug. 21 at the age of 40 after a long battle with chronic myelogenous leukemia. The Chicago-based artist underwent emergency surgery to suppress internal bleeding on June 2 and remained in hospice care until his death.
Fans of seminal New York hard rock act Helmet will have a little something to celebrate later this year, when Universal releases a retrospective of the group's three studio albums for Interscope. The set is due Nov. 4, although it's unknown whether any rare or unreleased tracks will be included.
Drama-drenched rocker Meat Loaf will release a new album, "Couldn't Have Said It Better," Sept. 23 in the U.S. on Sanctuary Records. The set, which has already been released in Europe, is his first all-new studio album since 1995's "Welcome to the Neighborhood" (Virgin).
