Gov't Mule guitarist Warren Haynes will stage his 14th annual Christmas Jam Dec. 21 in Asheville, N.C. The event, which will raise money for Habitat For Humanity, will feature performances by Gov't Mule, John Hiatt & the Goners, moe., Robert Randolph & the Family Band, and Bob Weir.

Former South African President Nelson Mandela will host a Feb. 2 concert featuring some of the world's leading entertainers to raise funds for Africa's millions of AIDS victims. U2 singer Bono, Macy Gray, and Shaggy have already agreed to perform at the show, to be held on Robben Island, a rocky outcrop off the coast of Cape Town where Mandela spent nearly two decades as a prisoner of the apartheid regime and is now a museum.
2000 - Singer/songwriter Peter Yarrow loses a Larrivee guitar that he has played on every of Peter, Paul & Mary recording and every one of the trio's concerts since 1973. Prized for its sound, the six-string guitar goes missing on a Delta airlines flight from Washington, D.C. to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Yarrow posts a $500 reward for the return of the guitar.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers will on Dec. 20 headline the Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix in Park City, Utah. The special outdoor concert appearance -- dubbed "Peppers and Pipes" -- will be held at Park City Mountain Resort and broadcast nationally on NBC the following evening at 10 p.m. ET.
Robbie Williams' bid to top the U.K. singles and album charts simultaneously failed yesterday (Dec. 8) at the hands of Eminem and a novelty release by a pair of Transylvanian sisters. While Williams' "Escapology" album (EMI/Chrysalis) started a third week at No. 1, his "Feel" single debuted at No. 4, as Eminem's "Lose Yourself" (Interscope/Polydor) became the rapper's fourth chart-topping British single.
With several shows already canceled, the remainder of Guns 'N Roses' first tour since 1993 is thought to be in jeopardy. The first recent show to be scotched came Friday in Philadelphia, where fans became unruly when the Axl Rose-led band failed to perform. Six additional shows have also been called off.
