Lenny Kravitz's appearance last night (Aug. 9) on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will inaugurate a new partnership between the show and the Sony Connect download service, whereby live performances from the show will be available for digital download hours later.
In the year between finishing his new album and its anticipated release next month, Paul Westerberg has shifted his focus to film. He has been working on songs for the Sony Pictures Animation project "Open Season," which he also expects to score.
After Pearl Jam reassembles in early October for its first live shows in nearly a year, the group will get busy on its eighth studio album. "I think they're planning on going back to the studio this winter," manager Kelly Curtis tells Billboard.com. As for a possible release date, he would only say, "When they're done, they give it to us and we go."
Amidst its first career-spanning survey, hard rock act Korn plans to include two choice cover songs. A version of Cameo's 1986 top 10 hit "Word Up" will serve as the first single from "Greatest Hits Vol. 1," due Oct. 19 via Immortal/Epic. The 19-track disc will also boast a cover of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall, Parts 1, 2, 3."
