A new Johnny Cash box set collecting more than 100 outtakes from his work over the past decade with Rick Rubin is being prepared for a possible Christmas release through American/Lost Highway. Tentatively titled "Unearthed," the collection will most likely span five discs, four of which will be composed entirely of previously unreleased material, Rubin reveals to Billboard.com.
Hard rock act Sevendust will on Oct. 7 release its fourth full-length album, "Seasons." The TVT disc, the group's first since 2001's "Animosity," will be supported with a vigorous touring schedule that commences tonight (Aug. 14) in New Orleans.
Rock quartet the Distillers will launch a headlining U.S. tour Sept. 5 in San Diego. The Brody Armstrong-led group is fresh off the Lollapalooza tour and has recently wrapped work on its Sire debut, "Coral Fang," with producer Gil Norton (Pixies, Foo Fighters).
Warner Music Group (WMG) has forged a cross-promotional alliance with Chevrolet to plug its acts at NASCAR events, Billboard Bulletin reports. Under the deal, images of select WMG acts will be featured on Chevy-sponsored race cars, and those artists will perform at a NASCAR weekend in September in Richmond, Va.
Singer/songwriter David Gray and electronic/pop act Morcheeba will play a free concert to 10,000 fans in London's Trafalgar Square later this month to mark a recent revamp of the world famous home of Nelson's column.
