A New York federal judge will allow hip-hop magazine The Source to distribute CDs containing limited excerpts of a previously unreleased recording by rapper Eminem that includes racially charged lyrics such as "black girls are dumb." The magazine can publish up to 20 seconds of material from two Eminem recordings, which it said it would enclose in its next issue.
Melissa Etheridge is gearing up for a rare club tour in support of her upcoming Island album, "Lucky," due Feb. 10. The artist will play 21 dates in six U.S. cities, beginning Feb. 17 with a four-night stand in West Hollywood, Calif.
Although a new Daft Punk album is still a ways off, the group will on Jan. 27 unleash the Virgin remix album "Daft Club." The 14-track set collects material that was previously only available to members of the Daft Club, access to which was enabled by a special card included in copies of the group's 2001 album, "Discovery."
