Friday's penultimate concert in Raleigh, N.C., featured a surprise guest appearance by former drummer Bill Berry, who sat behind the kit for a run-through of the non-album track "Permanent Vacation" and offered backing vocals on "Radio Free Europe."
Canadian punk quintet Simple Plan is finalizing a holiday DVD for Nov. 25 release on Lava Records. Titled "A Big Package for You," the disc will feature the band's entire video catalog alongside tour footage and other video chronicling its recent history.
2002 - Ray Conniff, the Grammy-winning composer and conductor who pioneered the use of vocal elements in pop arrangements, dies at an Esondido, Calif., hospital after injuring his head in a fall. He is 85. A top-selling big band leader and trombonist, Conniff made more than 100 albums, 25 of them reaching the top 40 in a career that spans six decades.
