Pearl Jam: 2012 Album Preview
| Pearl Jam |
Title: TBA | Release Date: TBA
Pearl Jam ( @pearljam) celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2011 with reissues of 1993's "Vs." and 1994's "Vitalogy," a two-day music festival, Cameron Crowe's career-spanning documentary "Pearl Jam Twenty" and a massive companion book of the same name. In late September, PJ bassist Jeff Ament told Rolling Stone that the band had recorded a handful of new songs with producer Brendan O'Brien and hoped to release its 10th studio album in early 2012. Around that same time, the Seattle rockers also released a free download of new track "Olé." The band's forthcoming album will be its first since the 2009 chart-topper "Backspacer."
In 2012 so far, Ament has been busy co-creating a line of JAXT4 basses with Northwest instrument maker Mike Lull (one of which is currently being auctioned off for the charity 826 Seattle). But whatever the release date of the next Pearl Jam album, the full band will be back on the road by June. A European tour slated to hit eight countries, including a mix of festival headlining gigs (Isle of Wight and Rock Werchter among them) and arena shows, has been announced.
