Passion Pit rained its neon power pop down on an appreciative, inevitably hipster-filled Brooklyn crowd on Tuesday (June 29) and we were there ready to document the action in photos.
Featuring opening band Tokyo Police Club, the sweltering Passion Pit gig at Prospect Park's bandshell was part of the borough's annual Celebrate Brooklyn series.
Passion Pit frontman Michael Angelakos, sipping a cup of tea, began his band's set with a slew of high-pitched hits from 2008 ep "Chunk of Change" and 2009 album "Manners." The highlight of the evening was a surprisingly fitting rendition of The Cranberries' 1993 hit "Dreams" during the encore. Though the song was beautifully rendered, the crowd, most of whom were too young to remember the early '90s, stirred impatiently, holding out for the single "Sleepyhead."
