Hot Tours: The Eagles, Bon Jovi, KISS

The Eagles soar to No. 1 on this week's Hot Tours chart with more than $42 million in concert ticket sales from solo arena performances as well as stadium dates with the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban. Among this week's reported box office totals, the top-grossing venue was Vancouver's General Motors Place (recently renamed Rogers Arena) with concerts on May 9-10. With 28,249 in attendance for both shows, ticket sales revenue topped $3.8 million ($3.6 million US). The band returned to the Vancouver market three weeks later with a show at Pacific Coliseum on June 1, a date that was originally planned for May 14 but was rescheduled due to illness. The band's first stadium event of the summer was also in Canada, at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The June 8 concert was the first of six shows booked with the Dixie Chicks. Gross sales surpassed $3.7 million ($3.5 million US) with 35,681 tickets sold. The top-grossing American venue was the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., the first of three stadium dates with country star Keith Urban joining the tour. With gross sales of $3.3 million, a total of 31,482 tickets were sold for the June 10 concert at the new home stadium of the NFL's New York Giants and New York Jets.

The inaugural concert at the New Meadowlands Stadium came on May 26 with legendary rock band Bon Jovi performing the first of four sold out concerts at the new venue. They also played the following evening and on May 29, and returned for a fourth concert on July 9. The combined total for all four shows was $21,386,437 - a new record for the band, according to the box office gross reported to Billboard. The New Meadowlands total surpasses the $18.1 million gross from 12 shows at London's O2 Arena that landed the band in the No. 1 position on last week's Hot Tours chart. Other Bon Jovi grosses topping the $10 million mark were a 10-show total of $16.6 million at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. in 2007 and $11.3 million from three sellouts at the old Giants Stadium in the summer of 2006.
