In addition to opening for Mary J. Blige's upcoming tour, R&B singer El DeBarge has announced his own headlining dates this fall, as he returns to the spotlight with "Second Chance," his first album in 16 years, due for a fall release on Geffen/Interscope.
DeBarge's trek kicks off Oct. 6 at S.O.B.'s in New York and sees the three-octave crooner playing six additional dates before wrapping Oct. 30 in Birminham, Ala.
"Second Chance," DeBarge's current single and his album's title track, reached No. 19 on the Billboard Adult R&B Songs chart this week, and the singer recenty hit the studio with veteran hit songwriter Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and R&B songwriter Mischke to record a new track for the set, titled "When I See You." The album will also feature the club track "Switch Up the Formats" with 50 Cent, the sexy ballad "Lay With You" with Faith Evans and the uptempo "Five Seconds" with rapper Fabolous.
"I wasn't tripping about whether the songs were fast or slow," DeBarge recently told Billboard of "Second Chance." "I just wanted them to feel good. When something comes from the heart, then it will reach fans' hearts."
