Hot Tours: Bon Jovi, Carrie Underwood, So You Think You Can Dance

Bon Jovi takes the No. 1 position on this week's Hot Tours chart with $6.3 million in box office grosses from concerts performed during its recent two week trek through Latin America. Following a two month hiatus after its summer North American stadium dates, the band kicked off the Latin American leg of The Circle Tour on Sept. 24 with a sold out performance at Foro Sol, a professional baseball stadium and concert venue in Mexico City. With grosses totaling 37.7 million pesos ($2.9 million U.S.), the veteran rockers drew more than 44,000 fans to the 17-year-old outdoor stadium that has hosted many major touring artists throughout the years. Muse and Sir Paul McCartney are among the artists who also performed concerts at the stadium this year.

Following the show in Mexico, the Bon Jovi tour continued on to other South American countries including Peru, with a performance on Sept. 29 in Lima. A sellout crowd of 45,193 attended the outdoor event held at the Estadio Universidad San Marcos. The Lima football stadium also hosted several other tours in 2010 including Metallica, Korn and Marc Anthony.

Following a three-month break from the road during the summer, country star Carrie Underwood began the fall leg of her Play On Tour on Sept. 25 with a sold out performance at the Rose Garden in Portland. $3.9 million in box office grosses from 10 U.S. arenas were reported during the past week giving the reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year the No. 2 ranking on the current list of Hot Tours. Since the tour began in March, grosses have climbed to more than $22 million, with almost half a million tickets sold. Country artists Billy Currington and Sons of Sylvia are support acts for this leg of the tour, which has shows scheduled through mid-December.
