Hot Tours: Madonna, Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw, Iron Maiden
By Bob Allen

Madonna's MDNA Tour continues to post big numbers, as the trek's gross rises to an overall $79.6 million from 22 reported shows. On the most recent Hot Tours chart, she ranks No. 1 with ticket sales totals reported from four sold out concerts during her tour through European markets this summer. Her first MDNA Tour appearance in France was on July 14 at the Stade De France in Paris with 62,195 fans in attendance. The $7.1 million (US$) gross at the national stadium of France is the largest single-show ticket sales total reported from the tour so far. Following the Paris concert, the tour crossed the channel for its first date in the U.K., a performance at London's Hyde Park. With a crowd topping 54,000, the concert on July 17 grossed £4.2 million ($6.7 million US$) and also featured LMFAO in a supporting slot. Concerts followed at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena on July 19 and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh, Scotland on July 21.

Iron Maiden is third on the list of top-grossing tours with $4.8 million in ticket sales revenue from seven performances on its 2012 tour through North America. Following a June 21 launch in Charlotte, the veteran English band played amphitheater dates in Atlanta, Boston and New York's Long Island before the June 29 concert at Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, N.J., the first date included in this week's Hot Tours tally. Outdoor performances followed in the Washington D.C. market as well as in Milwaukee and Toronto. Although the majority of the group's tour dates this summer are outdoor shed performances, arenas are also included on the itinerary. Three of those indoor events are part of this week's recap. The Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. hosted the band on July 2, and two more arena shows were held in Canadian cities - Quebec City on July 8 and Montreal on July 11.
Rod Stewart & Stevie Nicks make this week's list of Hot Tours in the No. 10 spot with the first show reported from their 2012 Heart and Soul Tour, on the road in U.S. markets. The concert included in this week's report is the sold out event at Cincinnati's Riverbend Music Center, the sole outdoor venue on the itinerary. The rest of the shows this summer are booked in arenas. With $827,913 in sales, a total of 12,155 tickets were sold for the July 21 concert in Cincinnati.
