Usher Postpones European Tour Dates To Focus on Family
Usher has pushed back a slate of European tour dates from early 2013 to the fall of next year. In a statement issued on Tuesday (Sept. 25), Usher explains that the Euphoria Tour, which supports his new album "Looking 4 Myself," will get underway later than expected so that the superstar has time to focus on his family.
"The feeling of euphoria that I get when performing for you is indescribable," writes Usher on his web site. "I love each and every one of you and thank you for being there every step of the way. I truly appreciate and am grateful for your support while I take this time to focus on my children and continue to evolve with my fans. Evolve or evaporate."
In August, Usher was awarded primary custody of his two sons, 4-year-old Usher Raymond V and 3-year-old Naviyd Ely Raymond, after a long legal battle with his ex-wife. The singer will have joint legal custody of the children with Tameka Foster Raymond, whom he married in 2007 and divorced in 2009.
The Euphoria shows were set to kick off on Jan. 18, 2013 in Amsteram, and continue through March 14. The fall 2013 tour dates will be announced next year, along with more Europe dates as well as North America shows.
Earlier this month, Usher and Shakira were announced as the new coaches on NBC's "The Voice" when the reality show's fourth season premieres in the spring. The singers would replace Christina Aguilera and CeeLo Green for the lone season, before Aguilera and Green return to "The Voice" next fall.
"Looking 4 Myself" has sold 380,000 copies since its June release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Usher performed hits from the new album at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas last weekend.
