'Idol' Contestant Pia Toscano Performs First Single Live

"American Idol" Season 10 favorite Pia Toscano debuted her first single, titled "This Time," Wednesday (July 6) night. The single is not scheduled for release until next week, but the singer performed the song at the "American Idols Live!" Salt Lake City stop. Watch below.

Toscano, who recently inked a deal with Interscope Records, is expected to release a full album later this year.

22-year-old Toscano placed ninth in the "Idol" competition, much to the surprise of both viewers and the judges, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson.

But as past seasons of "Idol" have shown, winning does not necessarily mean success, and losing does not denote failure. Toscano has the chance to shine with her new tune, written by Ester Dean, writer of Rihanna's "S&M" and Nicki Minaj's "Superbass."

The "American Idols Live!" tour will continue across the country this summer, wrapping in Rochester, N.Y. on Sept. 10.
