Skrillex's OWSLA Label Celebrates With Los Angeles Rager in Honor of 5-Year Anniversary
On Sunday night (Sep. 18), OWSLA, the record label and creative collective founded by Skrillex celebrated its five-year anniversary with a party in Los Angeles.
Guests heard back-to-back sets from the label’s roster and friends, including Skrillex, What So Not, Baauer, Valentino Khan, Slushii, Oshi, Wiwek, Anna Lunoe, Vindata, Team EZY, Blaise James, and Jacob Millar.
In a four-minute video montage reflecting on OWSLA’s journey thus far, the label boss himself did a voice-over. “I make music 'cause I love music and it all starts from there. And I surround myself with good people that I believe in as well. I think it’s important to create your family,” Skrillex said.
Toward the end of the video, Porter Robinson gets nostalgic and recalls when his song “Spitfire” debuted 2011. “So when I first released music through OWSLA, it was actually the very first release OSWLA ever did. Maybe they weren’t a super renowned record label yet, but they eventually would be,” Robinson said.
