A day after Coachella announced that Gorillaz would headline its 2010 music festival, the group unveiled the retro first single from its anticipated third album, "Plastic Beach." On "Stylo," Damon Albarn replaces Danger Mouse in the producer's chair and bounces atop a midtempo electro beat that drips with early-'80s flair. Albarn's alter-ego, lead singer 2D, croons hopeful rhetoric about mango birds and twilight skies to the song's title character. Soul legend Bobby Womack bursts in with a powerfully delivered chorus, while the rather underutilized Mos Def-who appears throughout "Plastic Beach" as the character Sun Moon Stars-drops a short verse to close things out. "Stylo" leaves the listener eagerly waiting to hear what the rest of this latest Gorillaz adventure brings.
