With "Glee's" Madonna-themed episode just around the corner, the pop superstar is speaking out in support of the show.
"I think Mr. Schuester is very cute," said Madonna in a statement about the show's glee club coach Will Schuester (Matt Morrison). "I'm glad he's doing such a good job empowering all the girls."
"Glee: Power of Madonna" airs next Tuesday (Apr. 20) on Fox and will span Madge's lengthy catalog, including "Express Yourself," "Like a Virgin," "Like a Prayer" and the more recent "4 Minutes." In the episode, Schuester assigns the girls in glee club the task of choosing Madonna songs to perform, "in the hopes that the girls embrace Madonna's strength, independence and confidence so that the guys will see the errors of their misogynistic ways," said the network.
A seven-song soundtrack, also titled "Glee: Power of Madonna," will be released the same day that the episode airs.
"Glee" teased its tribute to Madonna after this week's premiere episode, with a video of Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) performing Madonna's "Vogue."
