Oh, those crazy kids and the Twitter. After the popular microblogging service made some changes to the process by which trending topics are ranked, Justin Bieber found himself knocked off the list. The changes now reward spikes in traffic over a short period of time rather than overall traffic around existing topics. That means new topics rise to the top faster than incumbent topics, affecting Bieber and others.

His fans responded by simply changing up his name, such as "Twieber" or "Jieber." New takes on the name equals new spikes in traffic.

Bieber sent a tweet to Twitter's official page about the change, saying, "I heard you changed your system to stop my fans from making trending topics?? Really?? Where is the love??" The post has since been deleted from the teen singer's timeline, but Twitter responded, "the TT tweak is nothing personal. It was long planned & better shows what is emerging right now...Thx."
