It's been months since fans heard anything, much less new music, from Kanye West, but the drought is finally over. A track by the rapper/producer titled "Power" leaked on the Internet Friday (May 28), giving fans the first glimpse of what's in store on his buzzed-about upcoming album, tentatively titled "Good Ass Job."
"I guess every superhero needs his theme music / No one man should have all that power, the clock's ticking, I just count the hours / Stop tripping, I'm tipping off the power... this is way too much, I need a moment," West raps atop handclaps and hollers.
He then drops an F-bomb aimed at "Saturday Night Live" for mocking him after his infamous Taylor Swift stagecrash at last year's MTV Awards. "F**k SNL and the whole cast, tell them Yeezy said they can kiss my whole ass / More specifically, they can kiss my a**hole / I'm an a**hole? You n***as got jokes," he rhymes over the elevating King Crimson sample.
West explains his absence from the public eye (he presumably recorded the album in Hawaii) saying, "I just needed time alone with my own thoughts / Got treasures in my mind but couldn't open up my own vault."
"They say I was the abomination of Obama's nation, well that's a really bad way to start the conversation / At the end of the day, God Dammit, I'm killing this s**t, I know damn well they feeling this shit / I don't need your p***y, bitch, 'cause I'm on my own d**k," West goes on in his usual haughty rant.
He also addresses his rumored drinking problem, rapping, "How Ye doing? I'm surviving, I was drinking earlier, now I'm driving, where the bad bitches at? / Where ya hiding? I got the power make your life so exciting."
The song ends with a suicidal tirade, as 'Ye states, "Now this will be a beautiful death," followed by soul singer Dwele chanting, "jumping out the window, letting everything go, letting everything go."
