Late-night host Chelsea Handler is bringing her irreverent comedy to the MTV crowd as the host of the 2010 Video Music Awards. The comedian announced the gig last night (Aug. 18) on her E! talk show, "Chelsea Lately."
"Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop you think of 'Chelsea Lately,'" Handler told her audience sarcastically, "and that's why I'll be hosting [the show]."
Handler has hosted "Lately" for three years and penned several bestsellers, including "Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang" and "Are You There Vodka? It's Me Chelsea." The comedian joins a long list of comics who have hosted the show, including Eddie Murphy, Jimmy Fallon and Russell Brand, who hosted the past two VMAs.
