Amy Winehouse Disses Mark Ronson on Twitter
Amy Winehouse dissed longtime collaborator Mark Ronson on Twitter early Saturday (Sept. 18) for riding the coattails of her hit 2006 album "Back to Black." "Ronson you're dead to me; one album I write and you take half the credit - make a career out of it? Don't think so BRUV," Winehouse wrote. The attack came after the Ronson appeared on UK show "Later... With Jools Holland" and discussed how he "created the tracks" for "Back to Black." (NME)
Josh Groban Gives New Instruments to New York School
In an effort to support music education, singer Josh Groban helped launch Bing's "Our School Needs" campaign last Thursday (Sept. 16) by arriving at a Bayside, NY elementary school and surprising the school's band class with a variety of new instruments. "Nothing makes me happier than to see young people inspired and getting this kind of education," Groban tells Billboard.com. The singer's new album, "Illuminations," will be released this November.
Chris Brown Announces 'FAME' Album
Chris Brown has revealed that his next album will be called "FAME," an acronym for "Forgiving All My Enemies." The follow-up to 2009's "Graffiti" will feature recent singles "Deuces" and "Yeah 3X" and is expected to arrive later this year. (RapRadar)
J.Lo's Former Husband to Audition for "Idol"
Ojani Noa, Jennifer Lopez's former husband, "will be in line at the Forum [in Los Angeles] on Sept. 22 to try out for 'American Idol' in front of his ex-wife," according to Noa's manager Ed Meyer. Noa will sing a Jennifer Lopez song at his audition. The show's age requirement is 15-28, but Noa is 36. (PopEater)
Lynyrd Skynyrd Namesake Dies
Leonard Skinner, the Jacksonville, FL gym teacher and coach whose name inspired Lynyrd Skynyrd's moniker, died in his sleep early this morning (Sept. 20). Skinner had sent the band members to the principal's office in the late 1960s because their hair was too long. (Jacksonville.com)
The xx to auction off lightboxes from tour
Mercury Prize winners The xx will auction off two large, black lightboxes (each featuring a large "X") from recent tours starting Sept. 22, the same day that the band heads out on its final handful of shows before a long break. The auction takes place on Ebay and ends on Oct. 1.
Don Omar Added to Machete Label Tour
Reggaetón star Don Omar will join the launch of the "Machete Tour" put together by urban Latin label Machete in celebration of the label's fifth anniversary. The tour kicks off at the Theatre in Madison Square Garden Oct. 22, with Don Omar joining a roster that includes Ivy Queen, Chino y Nacho, Angel & Khriz, Jowell y Randy, R.K.M y Ken-Y and Jking & Maximan. Don Omar's performance comes prior to the release of his new album, "Meet the Oprhans," out Nov. 2 on Machete.
