Hot Tours: Bon Jovi, Roger Waters, Cher

Bon Jovi's Circle Tour takes the No. 1 position on the Hot Tours chart this week with box office totals reported from the last four dates on the Latin American leg of the tour. Tickets sales topped $14.5 million (US$) from the four sold out concerts that were all held at outdoor venues in Chile, Argentina and Brazil. On Oct. 1, the band performed in Santiago, Chile at Estadio Nacional grossing $1.8 billion Chilean pesos ($3 million US$) with 46,983 tickets sold. The tour moved on to Argentina next and two days later played to a sellout crowd at Estadio River Plate in Buenos Aires. Attendance at the stadium was 37,666 with a gross of $16.8 million Argentine pesos ($4.2 million US$). The last two concerts were in Brazil beginning with an Oct. 6 performance at São Paulo's Estádio do Morumbi, which produced the top gross and largest attendance of all the venues on the Latin American leg. 55,833 sold tickets for the single performance generated $5.5 million (16.8 million reais) at the box office. The final Brazilian show was in Rio de Janeiro at Praça da Apoteose, the city square that is the site of the annual Rio Carnival but also used for outdoor concerts during other times of the year. The Bon Jovi concert on Oct. 8 drew 15,529 fans to the square with ticket sales topping $1.7 million.

The first totals have been reported for Roger Waters' The Wall Tour, a new tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of the classic Pink Floyd album of the same name. The tour began in September with a slate of North American dates scheduled through mid-December, followed by European bookings in 2011. Totals from four venues were reported during the past week including a sold out two-show run at New York's Madison Square Garden (Oct. 5-6) with 24,206 fans filling the arena during both nights. Sellouts followed at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. (Oct. 10), Bell Centre in Montreal (Oct. 19-20) and the Palace of Auburn Hills (Oct. 24) in the Detroit market.
