"Glee" has already scored with tributes to Britney Spears' music videos and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" this season, but the show's post-Super Bowl episode will reportedly pay homage to an even more iconic musical production: Michael Jackson's "Thriller."
The cast will perform the King of Pop's classic during the Feb. 6, 2011 post-game episode -- which will be the most expensive hour in "Glee" history -- as a mash-up with another song that has yet to be determined, according to EW.
Although "Thriler" will likely be the centerpiece of the episode, the show will not be a tribute to Jackson. A source says it will also showcase cover versions of songs by Black Eyed Peas, Lady Antebellum and Katy Perry.
The plot of the episode will reportedly coincide with the preceding Super Bowl matchup: a local football game and Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch)'s cheerleading competition will dominate the action, while "Thriller" will be performed during the in-episode football game's halftime. Blaine (Darren Criss) and Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) are also expected to make appearances.
The episode will air immediately following Super Bowl XLV on Fox. Lea Michele, who stars as Rachel Berry on "Glee," recently told Billboard.com that the post-Super Bowl extravaganza would be "a really great, big, jam-packed episode."
