After finalizing her divorce from Dean Sheremet last year, LeAnn Rimes has announced her engagement to 37-year-old actor Eddie Cibrian.
The 28-year-old country star confirmed the news on Twitter today, saying that the couple got engaged over the holiday weekend. "It's for real this [time] and the first time EVER!" she wrote.
Rimes also wrote that a photograph of her wearing her new engagement ring was recently snapped at a beach in Malibu, but that "the rest is very personal and sweet." Cibrian has two children, Mason, 7, and Jake, 3, from his previous marriage to model Brandi Glanville, according to People.
Rimes met Cibrian while filming the Lifetime movie "Northern Lights," and admitted to having an affair with the actor during her eight-year marriage to Sheremet. "I understand why people are disappointed in me, especially since I grew up as America's sweetheart," Rimes told Shape magazine in September. Sheremet has since gotten engaged to photographer Sarah Silver.
Rimes' happy news was only one of the celebrity engagements that occurred during the Christmas weekend: actress Natalie Portman announced she's pregnant and engaged to "Black Swan" choreographer Benjamin Millepied, and Playboy CEO Hugh Hefner also announced plans to get hitched over the holiday.
