Roland Orzabal, one half of '80s chart powerhouse Tears For Fears, has signed a worldwide deal with Eagle Records. The label plans a worldwide March 19 release for "Tomcats Screaming Outside," the first album under Orzabal's own name. The set is Orzabal's first since TFF's final album, 1995's "Raoul And The Kings Of Spain." That set represented a sharp commercial decline from the group's peak years, spending only one week on the U.K. chart at No. 41 and reaching No. 79 on The Billboard 200. Since then, Orzabal has co-produced, with longtime collaborator Alan Griffiths, "Love In The Time Of Science," the acclaimed 1999 album by newcomer Emiliana Torrini, at Orzabal's home studio in Bath. A new single from that set, "To Be Free," is currently attracting U.K. airplay. Orzabal also co-produced "Tomcats Screaming Outside" with Griffiths, and describes the new album as "the first record I've made in 20 years that's not obsessed with the past.""
