Songwriter Burt Bacharach, synthesizer pioneer Robert Moog, and electronic composer Karlheinz Stockhausen will receive the 2001 Polar Music Prize at a ceremony May 14 in Stockholm, it was announced at the Midem conference in Cannes, France. Each will be presented with Skr 1 million ($115,000) by Sweden's King Karl Gustaf XVI for service to the worldwide music community.

Bob Dylan and Isaac Stern won last year's honor. Nominations for the prize, initiated in 1989 by the late Stig Anderson, are submitted by the International Federation Of The Phonographic Industry (IFPI) and authors' body CISAC.
