Hip-hop, metal, online, and DVD categories are being introduced this year at Germany's Echo Awards, as the show prepares to mark its 10th anniversary with its broadest edition to date, Billboard Bulletin reports. Organized by the German Phono Academy, the event will take place March 15 at Berlin's International Congress Centre; for the past five years, it has been held in Hamburg.

Nominees in the new Echo categories will be named in February. Contenders in six established categories skew toward veteran acts. The Beatles, Bon Jovi, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are among those nominated for best international group, and Tom Jones and Carlos Santana are among those for best international male artist. Westernhagen and Die Toten Hosen were among those nominated in domestic categories.

Winners are determined by the previous year's record sales, a panel of industry professionals, and viewers of music networks MTV and Viva.
