Attention Depeche Mode fans: start salivating. The veteran synth pop act has begun posting MP3 excerpts of songs from its forthcoming album, "Exciter," on its official Web site. The first track to appear is "Dream On," which has been tapped as the set's first single. "Exciter" hits stores May 15 on Reprise, and a day earlier on Mute in the band's native U.K.

The band plans to offer two excerpts per day online, with the first pair set for posting tomorrow (Jan. 31) at 8 p.m. U.K. time. "Dream On" will be commercially released April 23 in the U.K.; a U.S. release date is still pending. A summer world tour is also in the works.

"Exciter" is Depeche Mode's first album since 1997's "Ultra," which debuted at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and has sold more than 560,000 copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan. The single "It's No Good" made it to No. 4 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, followed by "Barrel Of A Gun," which reached No. 11.
