Black Sabbath, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, and De La Soul with Busta Rhymes will perform at the first ESPN Action Sports & Music Awards on April 7 in Los Angeles. The awards show will be telecast April 10 on ESPN, and will be hosted by model Rebecca Romijm-Stamos, rapper LL Cool J, and actor Chris Klein.
The ceremony, to be taped at the Universal Ampitheatre, will honor surfers, snowboarders, skiers, BMX cyclists, and Motocross riders, as well as the artists whose music has come to be associated with extreme sports. Members of Pennywise, Cypress Hill's B Real, Rob Zombie, comedian Tom Green, and volleyball star Gabrielle Reece are among those who will be on hand as presenters.
Each artist is slated to perform one song, and a spokesperson for Black Sabbath says the band will be closing the show. As previously reported, the group will embark on the Ozzfest tour May 26 in London, and is working on its first album of all new material in more than 20 years. De La Soul and Busta Rhymes will perform "I.C. Y'all," which appeared on the former's "Art Official Intelligence: Mosiac Thump" (Tommy Boy).
The event's official Web site will allow visitors to vote for their favorite athletes. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
