Mysterious Icelandic rock outfit Sigur Ros has lined up dates for its first-ever tour of North America, which will begin with an April 28 appearance at the Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif. The trek, with a string quartet in tow, proceeds to five additional cities, wrapping May 8 at New York's Angel Orensanz Center.

Sigur Ros is touring in support of its second studio album, "Agaetis Byrjun," released via Fat Cat in North America last summer. The group's highly ambient, often lengthy compositions have drawn raves internationally, leading to a high-profile support slot on Radiohead's European tour last summer.
