St. Louis-based rapper Nelly is heading out for a brief spring tour of college towns before he joins hometown rap outfit the St. Lunatics for the release of their debut album on June 5. Nelly, whose "Country Grammar" (Universal) currently rests at No. 15 on The Billboard 200, will tour with Detroit-based rapper Alley Life for about two weeks, beginning April 18 as part of Indiana University's annual Little 500 celebration.

Nelly was a founding member of the St. Lunatics, who formed in 1996 and signed with Universal in 1999. City Spud, Nelly's younger brother and guest on Nelly's current single, "Ride With Me," is also a member of the group, as are Ali, Kyjuan, Murphy Lee, and Slo Down.

Jason "Jay-E" Epperson and the Basement Beats, the same team behind "Country Grammar," produced the St. Lunatics' debut album, titled "Free City," The first single will be "Midwestern Swing," with "STL," "Let Me In Now" and "Groove Tonight" slated to follow. R&B singer Brian McKnight makes an appearance on "Groove Tonight."

Nelly may have been the first St. Lunatic to step out on his own, but Ali, Lee, and Kyjuan are currently in the studio prepping their own solo releases for Universal.
