The Black Crowes and their V2 labelmates Stereophonics, along with recent U.K. breakthrough act Spooks, are among the artists booked to appear on the first episode in the 17th series of BBC2's "Later
With Jools Holland" show, to air in the U.K. on April 13. The performance series, hosted by the former Squeeze pianist, will now have a regular Friday night slot plus a Sunday night repeat.

Also appearing on the first edition of the new series will be Calexico and Rokia Traore. The latter won last year's critics' poll in fRoots (formerly Folk Roots) magazine and will perform the title song from her new album, "Wanita."

The Crowes will play tracks from their upcoming V2 debut "Lions," due on May 8. Stereophonics are set to showcase their third V2 album "Just Enough Education To Perform," out in the U.K. on April 9, from which "Mr. Writer" is at No. 5 in this week's U.K. singles chart.
