Dave Matthews Band drummer Carter Beauford, Medeski Martin & Wood keyboardist John Medeski, saxophonist Joshua Redman, guitarist Marc Ribot, and vocalist Me'Shell Ndegeocello will participate in Superfly Productions' "Super Jam" series May 6 in New Orleans, running concurrently with the city's Jazz & Heritage Festival.

Last year's "super jam" session by Oysterhead -- the impromptu rock supergroup featuring Phish guitarist/vocalist Trey Anastasio, Primus bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, and ex-Police drummer Stewart Copeland -- sold out New Orleans' 2,700-seat Saenger Theatre in less than 15 minutes. As previously reported, the group is about to begin work on its debut album.

Superfly also has a number of notable shows booked during Jazz Fest, including performances by Ben Harper, McCoy Tyner, the Radiators, Galactic, Femi Kuti, and an evening of traditional New Orleans jazz with Phish drummer Jon Fishman and members of the Dirty Dozen Brass Band and the Jazz Mandolin Project.

As reported in February, Jazz Fest features a stellar lineup of jazz performers and mainstream acts such as Paul Simon, Dave Matthews Band, Brian McKnight, Lucinda Williams, and B.B. King.
