News on David Bowie, Dolly Parton, Fatboy Slim, Christopher Walken, Underworld, Darren Emerson, Scanty SandwichA
David Bowie will launch an online radio station, "BowieRadio," via his BowieNet Web community on Thursday (April 5). Using RealNetworks software, the station will stream Bowie favorites and live performance clips, as well as non-Bowie material. Affirming his hands-on role in BowieNet, the artist himself will eventually launch a channel broadcasting his own DJ mixes.
"The possibilities are endless," Bowie said in a statement. "We have developed programming that not only satisfies the musical tastes and personal requests of our members, but also does not infringe on the rights of the writers and publishers."
Dolly Parton has signed on to star as the mother of an overzealous insurance claims investigator in the Disney comedy "Frank McKlusky, C.I.," according to the Hollywood Reporter. Comedian Dave Sheridan will play the title role.
Although Parton has appeared in several films -- including "9 To 5," "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas," "Rhinestone," and "Steel Magnolias" -- and in a number of television movies and series, this will be her first feature film role in nearly 10 years. Parton's last big screen appearance was as herself in the 1993 comedy "The Beverly Hillbillies."
