Former Soul Coughing frontman Mike Doughty will embark on a U.S. club and college tour this spring, performing acoustic versions of Soul Coughing tunes as well as new solo material. The 16-date tour will focus mostly on the East Coast and include dates with G. Love & Special Sauce, Violent Femmes, and They Might Be Giants.
Doughty has recently been working up material for a new solo album. "Skittish," a largely acoustic collection of solo songs recorded several years ago, has been available from his official Web site since last November. Doughty has also prepared his first book of original poetry, "Slanky," which will be published this fall by Soft Skull Press.
Soul Coughing disbanded last March after releasing three varied albums for Slash/Warner Bros. The New York group's final effort, 1998's "El Oso," peaked at No. 49 on The Billboard 200 and featured the single "Circles," which peaked at No. 8 on Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart.
